Office of Public Affairs.
The Office of Public Affairs serves as the primary point of contact with external media and coordinates the tribes’ governmental affairs activities at the state and national levels. The Office of Public Affairs works with several organizations - in press, private, governmental and consulting arenas. We are always striving to strengthen the mission of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and would love to contact you about feature stories or press releases.
Our Staff.
Public Affairs Manager, Roselynn Yazzie, is a Shoshone-Bannock tribal member and Diné and makes her home in the Fort Hall District.
She attended Idaho State University for business but found her calling in journalism. She’s been a part of the Sho-Ban News staff for 19 years as a reporter and assistant editor. Her experience working in a small newsroom has allowed her to report on everything from education, tribal government, sports, and features, covering local and national news. She assists in the weekly production of the newspaper, enjoys photography and using her creativity in graphic design, and has freelanced broadcast packages for Indian Country Today (ICT).
Yazzie has been a member of the Indigenous Journalists Association (formerly NAJA) since 2011. She began as a mentor on the Student Projects and is enthusiastic about encouraging the next generation of Indigenous journalists. In August 2024, she was elected by her peers to serve as a member of the Indigenous Journalists Association Board of Directors.
She’s also the recipient of numerous Indigenous media awards.
